FAQs About Our Service

How do I join your service?

Either by filling out the online Registration Form or calling our Customer Service Team on 0800 082 6848. You will need to let us know your full details and delivery address, GP name and address, the products you require and any special instructions such as cutting size. We'll also need to know which of our welcome gifts you would like to choose from. It's that easy.

Will I receive any complimentary items should I decide to use The Responder Home Delivery Service?

Yes you will. With your first order we offer you a choice of one of the following items :- A swimsuit or pair of swim shorts; a generously sized coolbag to store your pouches in, or a useful weekend travel and storage bag. For our wheelchair & electric scooter clients, we have a storage bag which clips onto the back of your wheelchair, or alternatively, a weekend and travel pack. In addition and with every order, we will send you a supply of wet or dry wipes and pouch disposal bags.

We also offer mattress and bedding protection, and will supply this as a complimentary item if none of our other gifts are of interest to you. Call our Customer Service Team on 0800 082 6848 for more information, or to place your order.

Can you obtain my prescription for me?

Yes we can. Simply fill in our online registration form or call our Customer Service Team on 0800 082 6848 and we will sort everything out for you.

Where do Respond Plus deliver?

We deliver to all areas of Northern Ireland. If you live in England, Wales or Scotland, you need our sister Company OstoMART Ltd

How do you deliver my parcels?

We will send your pouches, flanges, catheters and other appliances by an overnight courier service for a guaranteed next day delivery. Girdles and light accessories will be sent by Royal Mail, but we might take the decision to send them by courier if we feel this is the more appropriate service. If you need something like swimwear or belts urgently, you can ask our Customer Service Team about paying for a next day courier service.

How much does delivery of my prescription products cost?

Delivery is free on all prescription items.

Can I choose which day I receive my parcel?

Yes you can. You can either have a regular delivery on the same day every month, or you can call us to place an order and just let us know which day suits you best for the delivery.

Can you leave the parcel without a signature?

Yes we can. Normally people choose to have their parcel left in the garage, or a porch, or maybe with a neighbour. Some people have specially made boxes for us to leave them in. Just let us know your instructions, and we will make a note of them for all future deliveries. All of our parcels are tracked daily to ensure safe delivery.

How will you know if I have my parcel safely?

Our Customer Service Team checks all our deliveries daily. If we cannot reach you with our courtesy telephone call, we will check with our carriers each time we deliver your parcel.

Do you have Northern Ireland based call centres?

At Respond Plus we do not have call centres. When you ring our freephone number 0800 082 6848 your call will be directed to our Service Centre in Larne. You will usually speak to the same member of our Customer Service Team, and they will get to know your needs and requirements. You can be assured of the best possible service every time you call us.

What are your opening times so that I can call to speak to you?

Our Service Centre is open between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday between 8.30am and 12.30pm. Alternatively, you can leave a message outside of these hours and one of our Customer Service Team will call you back on the next working day.

Can you prepare and cut my pouches for me?

Yes we can. We can cut your pouches to any shape or size, simply forward your template onto us and we will do the rest.

What can I do if I find that I have left myself short on supplies?

Call our Customer Service Team as soon as you realise you are low. We will do everything we can to assist you. We are able to provide emergency supplies for you.

How can I ensure that I do not leave myself short on supplies?

To help you avoid such occurrences, we can offer you a regular 'standing order' of your product requirements delivered to your door on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. We can arrange this with your GP and organise your prescription too.

Do I have to contact my GP with amendments to my prescriptions?

No you don't. if you would like a new item added to your order off Ostomy Supplies simply contact our customer service team with the details and they will update your order and contact your GP with your new requirements on your behalf.

Will you update me with any new products?

Yes we will. When delivering your order we will supply you with information on new products which have been produced.  Also if you see or hear off any other new products you are interested in please contact our customer service team for further details.

Is it possible to receive an extra supply if I go on holiday?

Yes it is. If you are planning a holiday, and believe you will require an extra order before your return, please contact our Customer Service Team with the details in advance of your departure.  They will contact your GP on your behalf, and provide you with the order before you leave, giving you extra peace of mind while you are on holiday.

Will my personal details be kept Private and Confidential?

Yes they will. Respond Plus prides itself on being a discreet Home Delivery Service, and all details given will remain strictly Private and Confidential. If you have any extra special instructions regarding your delivery, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service Team who will include them when placing and delivering your order

FAQs About OstoMART Products & Hi Line Support Garments

Can I use OstoCLENZ to clean my stoma?

No you can't. This product can be used on your hands, and around the stoma area, but is not recommended for use on the stoma itself.

Can I spray the OstoMIST into the pouch?

Yes you can. OstoMIST is not just a masking agent, it actively neutralises odour. Just one spray into your pouch is all that is necessary. You can also give one spray of OstoMIST into the air to reduce persistent odour.

What is OstoZYME used for?

OstoZYME is an Odour Neutralising Pouch Lubricant. It prevents pancaking, reduces static, and kills odour in the pouch.

What are the adhesive tapes / frames used for?

These are used for added security whenever you have a concern with the adhesion of your appliance. They are applied to the top, bottom and sides of your pouch adhesive area, and secured to your skin. They are made from a strong but gentle cushioned adhesive that will not disintegrate with wear like shaped hydrocolloids.

What is the OstoSHIELD?

The OstoSHIELD is a light yet durable plastic shield, which protects the stoma against direct blows. It is used mainly for sporting activities, or at work if the stoma is in danger of being damaged by heavy objects or materials. OstoSHIELD is worn over the stoma pouch, and is held in place by a belt. Both these items are available on prescription.

Will the OstoMIST Mint Drops affect my stoma?

The OstoMIST Mint Drops are made from natural oils, and as such, there is no evidence to show that it will affect your stoma. However, like with all products, should you suffer a reaction it is wise to stop using it. Generally it is advised to avoid direct contact with the stoma. In the event that it comes in contact with skin, wash the affected area with soap and water.

How do I use the OstoMIST Mint Drops?

The OstoMIST Mint Drops are designed to go directly into the pouch to neutralising any odour. They are not recommended for use by Urostomates however.

Will the OstoGUARD Barrier Cream affect the adhesion of my pouch?

No it won't. OstoGUARD Barrier Cream is a water based product, and does not contain any greasy substances. Use only a very small amount to provide a protective barrier on your skin, and always ensure that the area treated is completely dry before you attach your appliance.

Are Hi Line Support Garments available to buy as well as on prescription?

Yes they are. If you are a customer from outside of the UK you will need to call +44 28282 60506. If you are a UK resident please call 0800 082 6848. Alternatively anyone can purchase them at our on line store.

How will I know when it’s time to order more Hi Line Support Garments?

Our Customer Service Team will notify you by letter when you can have more support garments. When you contact them with your requirements, they will process your prescription, and forward your order by post.

How many Cool Comforts or Hi Line Support Garments will my GP allow me to have?

There is no specific ruling for the supply of these items, and most GP's will prescribe 3 support garments per year. The Cool Comforts are supplied in packs of 3, and because they are generally worn next to the skin, your GP may allow you to have more than one pack annually

Other FAQs

What if my pouch becomes difficult to remove, and makes my skin sore?

You can aid removal of your pouch using OstoCLEAR. Loosen the pouch at the top, and spray OstoCLEAR behind it. This will loosen the adhesive, making it easy to slide off without pulling your skin. OstoCLEAR is also available in a wipe for any adhesive that is left behind.

Can I buy any of your products if my doctor won't prescribe them for me?

Yes you can. We are happy to take orders for any of our products over the phone with a debit or credit card payment. Alternatively you can visit our online shop and place an order there, or send a cheque and details of your order by post. There is a small delivery charge for non-prescription items.

If I suffer from pouch leakage at night, can I buy bed protection products from you to help with the problem?

Yes you can. In our online shop we offer a range of pads and mattress protectors to aid with this predicament. You can also send a cheque with details of your order by post. Alternatively you can call us on 0800 082 6848 and pay over the phone with a debit or credit card.

Can I still get travel insurance now that I have a stoma?

Yes you can. Your insurers will require details of your medical history, surgery and any ongoing treatment & medication. This will enable them to obtain appropriate insurance for your needs both at home and abroad. For further advice and information about travel at home and abroad contact one of the following groups:-

Do you supply travel cards?

Yes we do. We hold a supply in stock from the Patient Organisations, plus we also have a handy brochure ‘Going on Holiday' that you may feel helpful to download or request.

What do I do if my pouches are faulty?

If you are using our Home Delivery Service you need to contact us immediately and we will replace any faulty pouches. The pouch manufacturers advised that you retain the box they came in, as this will help with determining batches that may be faulty to ensure you do not receive pouches from the same batch as the replacement - contact our Customer Service Team on 0800 082 6848.
